Default will pick up my TT at the factory -- anyone interested in some pictures?

Hi,
in about two weeks i will get my 225 TT. Location will be the factory itself, based in Ingolstadt. Audi has built a wonderful service center, where everyone can pick up his ordered car.
As most of you will never get the chance to pick up your audi at the factory, I wonder if there´s any interest in some pictures of this location. Then I would take my digicam with me an shoot some hopefully nice photos and post them here.

Michael
Michael, digi-photos would be GREAT!! Most of us are a LONG way away from the factory, and it would be terrific of you to share the experience with the rest of us!
Thanks in advance...
Janet

Default I thought AUDI did not have a Euro delivery plan

I asked my delaer and they said that AUDI did not have a European delievery plan. And I saw the same thing in AutoWeek. How did you swing it?
And yes I would love to see the pictures.

Default ???

Eeeeh, due to my not-so-perfect English, I don´t know what you mean by "European delivery plan". Of course I know all the single words, I know that term, but not in this context...
Well, several german manufacturers allow you to pick up your car directly at the factory. In my case I have to do this, because I also ordered my 225 TT from Audi directly, because they give you a rebate of 15% off the regular price as a journalist. Maybe this answers your question.
Michael

Default Sorry

Here in the states companies like BMW & Mercedes allow US owners to pick up their new cars in Germany and drive it around for a couple of weeks then drop it off at the port to be shipped at no extra charge. A lot of people do it to take a holiday and see where their car was made. I was hoping to pick up my TT at the factory for the same reasons. I did not realize you were in Europe. I guess I should have become an journalist instead of an engineer to qualify for the Audi discount. Best of luck with the new TT. Can't wait to see the pictures.

I think that the confusion stems from the fact that Audi does not have what we Americans refer to as a "European Delivery Plan". Under that plan, a Yankee could fly to Germany, pick up their U.S. spec car at the factory, drive it around Europe (under a temporary foreign driving permit), and ultimately ship it back to the states at a cost savings. That's a different situation than this gentleman's, who is German I presume, picking his car up at the factory.
Yes, Michael, we would love to see some pictures, and we are very jealous of your 15% discount. Of course, WE get the cupholders for no extra cost! ;-)

"I did not realize you were in Europe."
Oh, I take this as a compliment! ;-)
It seems as though my English isn´t too bad then.
Well, actually I´m just living five miles away from the Audi factory. No need for a holiday trip...

Michael

Default Link to German Site (w/English) shows Audi Delivery Center (also my visit - long)

Went to Germany last week to visit my sister in Dossenheim (near Heildelberg) and went to Ingolstadt to visit the factory. What an experience! Anyone taking delivery at the factory gets lunch at their cafeteria and a tour of the factory. They then call your name to go down to the delivery floor where they take your picture with your car (ready minutes later)and give you a walk-thru of the car. Then the doors at the end of the delivery center open and you drive your car away!!! What a fanfare experience. Would love to do it that way. Luckily I had my sister to translate the german for me.
Tour takes you around the complex by bus and then a walk-thru tour of the A4 assembly line. A4 sedans and Avants were on two separate lines. Amazing process to see. Everything from glass being placed to the drive-train being mated to the frame. They don't take you through the welding or paint shops so you will not be able to see anything related to the TT production. However, there are TT's everywhere around the factory. ALL TYPES!!! 180FWD, 180Q, 225Q and some Roadsters (225Q) that were probably test vehicles. All others were seen in "SHIP STATE (wrapper on hood, etc)" ready for trucks and/or train delivery.
Also saw new S4's and A6's with 4.2 V-8 with larger flared fender wells. Amazing what you can see at the factory!!! It's truly "Audi Land". I have a July week 29 production for my 180Q according to the dealer's production spreadsheet with delivery probably early September. Can't wait!!!

Default Audi-Land

Hi,
seems as though you had a good time. Unfortunately, "Audi-Land" is losing its fascination when you see it every day. :-/
But you´re right, picking up a new audi at the delivery center is a great feeling. Did that once before; excited people all around.

Michael
