Default A Letter to the NM Owner Who Blew My Doors Off

Yesterday evening (5ish), I’m lazily making my way down from Cardiff, CA to the stadium to watch the Padres and Rockies go at it again. Traffic is light and my thoughts turn to the standard TT dream: my farfegnugen(sp?) mobile’s boxy lines melt into curves and I’m suddenly surrounded in black leather and chromed aluminum and hurtling through traffic. Then a tan Volvo cut me off and I can barely hear the needle scratch on the record player in the background.
After enduring four months of, “Hey Dave, where’s your car?”, “Dave, did you that ‘PP’ car yet?”, “September! I thought you said July?”, and knowing I still have three more months to go for my Silver/Black Quattro, I begin to realize the dream is getting a bit stale. Just then, a momentary flash of gray to my left causes me to whip my head around just in time to catch the all too familiar TT shape BLOW past me (I think I was doing 75, though it felt like I was parked). I crane my neck in time to see a Neiman Marcus (license TNT TT) shoot down the fast lane and disappear 8-9 cars ahead of me. I sat there, stunned for a second and then thought “I’m gonna wave at that guy and honk like crazy just like the guys on the TT forum!” I gunned it just in time to speed right into the Sorrento Valley 5 o’clock molasses traffic and immediately lost site it. I ranted and raved to myself for a moment and then realized: Holy S**t, I’m going to own one of those things in just three months!
Thank you TNT TT for slapping me back into lust mode and breaking up the normal day of: design software, design software, think about TT, meeting, lunch, think about TT, design software, meeting, meeting, think about TT, design software, meeting…
I hope that all you lucky current owners know that you’ll have this same effect on hundreds around you, and that all of the rest of you on the waiting list like me know that one day soon, we too will soon get THE CALL.
Thanks,
DO
Here's another Dave in Calif. with a 180Q Silver/Ebony on for production July26 week...
I am a wee bit worried that a few days of schedule
delays could mean a Late Oct./Nov. delivery as the
factory may be closed in August.
Since I put deposit down 11 months ago, I can
relate to the WAIT and the never ending "Hey where
is that new squashed Beetle thing?"
My only consolation is a 99 328i... great but not
a TT.
let's see 64 days and counting...

David,
We must be living the same life. I have to hear everyday when are you getting your car? I would never wait that long for a car. I want to say " That is because you are driving a Saturn". My day is the same though design software, look at TT model on desk ,design software, look at tt forum site, meeting, lunch, design software, look at model, go home at 9:00, go on TT forum. I think I need help.... no I really need my car. I can't wait for September. I will be really lucky if the car gets here on my wife's b-day because I will never forget it again.
Yep, me too. Similar comments - "You're going to have to wait 'till when for your car? Why don't you get something else?" It is at this point that a slightly pained expression crosses my face and I explain patiently (usually) that as I have been waiting for four years now a few months won't make any difference.
My day consists of checking the forum for the wonderfull (and unlikely) news that Audi has started producing 225 Roadsters in right hand drive and is shipping them to the UK - fat chance it seems.
