225bhp TT - into shipping area!
Am told that mine is now into shipping area at Audi factory having been released from Checkpoint 7 and should be here in UK dealer for me to pick-up "next week or week after" ... like Pavlov's dogs I am now salivating!!!

After all the waiting and scares - delays, build problems etc. my dealer has confirmed my 225TT is to be built week 29. Should get mine in time for a new V plate. Now what number plate should I go for ? <p>Whats the feeling on the alcantara option, at present I have selected black leather. Is it like the RS2's ?

What are UK TT Delivery Times Like?
Just wanted to know what your experience has been with delivery times. I bought an A3 two years ago and it took 5 months for delivery, which I thought was long enough. I've heard anything from 9 months to 3 years (YOUCH). Does anyone have a view, unofficial or otherwise?

Alcantara, from what I understand is a man made product to feel like suede or split leather. I had it in my 97 855 R Volvo. It was split Alcantara and leather. The alcantara was on the seating area and the side bolsters were leather. I frankly loved it! It was like built in sheep skins. Never tooooo cold in the morning and never tooooo hot in the afternoon. I took this car to Colorado for the cold weather and I live in Houston TX for my actual hot temperature tests. I had 50,000 miles on it when I sold it and there were very little signs of wear. It feels great with shorts, too. No sticking etc. . . I have not seen the alcantara in the TT, but if I had it as an option again, I would get it (unless it was cost prohibitive).<p>If you are unhappy with your 225 with alcantara I will trade you my 180 with full leather at no extra charge. Sounds like a great deal, huh?

UK delivery times from experience?
Just wanted to know how you know the times. Is this based on your chats with Audi dealers in the UK? <p>Also, do you know if RHD imports from Europe are possible?<p>Anyway, thanks for your information, I guess 15 to 18 months is a long time, but it gives you time to save up!

But I've seen import ads in car magazines saying 4-6 months
Also in Sunday Times - look under Audi or Imports - you will see some ads for cars that are full UK spec and rhd etc - my guess is in 2 years people won't care if car was bought thro UK dealer or not so have a go and save a lot of cash!

Good question - I think the build week was the last week in may and then it was at Checkpoint 7 (final QA) on June 9th where it sat until Wednesday of this week (30th June) for reasons that are still unclear. Hope this helps.
