Stephen,<br>I've been to the Short Hills/Florham Park area many times on business and have never been allowed<br>to pump my own gas...and I was told by a resident of the area that self-service isn't available by law. Guess that's not true in ALL of New Jersey, then?<br>Janet

I do use valet sometimes, but I try to park the car myself, as the car(TT) is so new, few are familier with the switches, gearing,brakes etc. and I hate having the seat moved from my 'just right' position. Also, do these 'young' valets 'beat' on the car, as I've been told ? Also they tend to park the cars way to close to other cars, a great setup for door dings ! <p>AUDIMAN

Janet,<p>I live in Union which is right next to Short Hills and the 2 Sunoco's I go to always let me do it. When I tell them I want to fill it myself they tell me, "I don't blame you!"<p>Stephen<br>

I can second the "Don't valet your car"
I let the valet park my car recently at an inn that I was staying at in Charleston, SC. When it came back it had a wheel that had been curbed and the door sill had a BIG scratch in it. I have been working with their insurance company to have the problems fixed. I don't believe that I will make this mistake again.

NEVER Valet your car....
After having a transmission demolished by a valet, then having door dings show up while in a valet lot (which, of course, you can never prove that they did it), I decided many years ago to only valet if I was in a rental car.<p>Then, a Ft. Lauderdale bar loses the keys to my rental when I had a flight to catch -- missed the plane. Two months later, a Sausalito restaurant lost a whole CAR for an hour -- they brought out every red car they had and tried to convince me it was mine.<p>Now, I don't even valet rentals.
