To chip w/ECU or without?
The chip manufacturers say their chips are undetectable unless you open the ECU, and some dealers it sounds like are actually installing the chip... so in the end is it worth it?
a more stringent inspection if the car isn't quattro (ok ok) and thus
a chip might fail, who knows....
Gives you a spare as well if something gets fried along the way
I kow my Garrett chip has such an added device. I also know that APR does this. I don't know about the others though.
I am not worried about them "seeing" my chip, I only worry once they DRIVE my car! I have a spare ECU.
It is also added insurance incase the ECU does indeed fail. I carr the ECU in the place where my cd changer used to reside.

The kicker, is that they will install the damned thing, too. I don't know if he has some kind of ulterior motive, aside from getting the cash to put it in...
