Gas station pump failed, resulting in gas spewing out of tank...
even after I pulled the pump out. It didn't click off when sensors should have turned the gas flow off. After I cleaned the area, and drove off, it stalled at a light. Then it lurched a bit as I drove it. Later that night driving it home, it stalled out at 40mph. It performed fine the rest of the way home, about 15 miles. So my question is, did it clear itself out, or do I need to take it in?

Sounds like your charcoal filter got a lot of raw fuel in it, and you may get a check engine light, if you still have any issues after the next tank of gas, you may want to get it checked out.

I had the exact same problem on Friday. The pump nozzle failed to shut off when I was not looking. Had to wait for the backflow to finish before I could even put the cap back on. The car ran roughly after I started it and stalled on a freeway ramp moments later. It continued to lurch when I either tried to accelerate above 40 MPH or released the accelerator. This disappeared after driving another 5-10 miles. It then felt OK. Later in the day it idled roughly at stop lights and appeared to be on the verge of stalling if I did not keep the RPM at 1000 or above. Now it drives normally.
I thought maybe the fuel vapor recycling system was flooded with the question being whether the "cannister" I know these contain needed to be replaced. Or had I screwed up the computer somehow. Plan to call the dealer on Monday and see if it can wait for the 10,000 mile service next month.
This has never happened on other cars I have overfilled.

Weird - it also happened to me on Friday....
I noted that the fuel filler isn't well vented on the TT, so you have to be especially careful when approaching the top of the tank.
Mine was also on the verge of stalling for a few minutes after the fillup. It did clear up eventually, so I took note of it and figured I wouldn't worry about it until I had more of a reason.

This happened to me too about 2 weeks ago.
No further problems, so must be something with the
fuel ventilation system with an (over) full tank.
I gotta admit I was pretty freaked because of the
gasoline that got spilled over the back of the car, though... :-)
