Default Snow control. Experiences anyone?

A little light snow and slush is predicted here on Wed. I just picked up the Q and had hoped to avoid having to buy snow tires until next winter. Anybody had experience with the OEM 17' Bridgestones on snow? Should I just leave the car in the garage?

Everyone says leave it parked unless you have winter tires!

Default Depends how far you have to drive. It's certainly drivable, but you have to be very careful...

and twice now it just wouldn't stop in snow when I asked it to (rode curb once).

I'd leave it at home to be on the safe side.

I cheaped out and didn't buy snow's this year. A mistake I intend to recify for next winter.

Default Best to leave it in the garage ...

The stock Bridgestones traction is as bad in snow as it is good on warm, dry roads. After driving our 180Q 30 feet in 1" of snow, I parked it until I got snow tires.

The 180Q becomes amazing in the snow with Blizzak MZ-01s, so much better than our Explorer with studded tires. The205-55-16 Blizzaks are also very quiet and smooth relative to OEM Bridgestones.

Default Don't take a chance --

The Q on OEM tires is like ice skating, particularly if one is not used to driving on the stuff.

Here is my car with 16" rims (Borbet Model S) and Pirelli P210 Asymetrico Snow Tires ($109 ea.)

My 17" Audi (avus) rims and Bridgestones are in my basement and will go on the car the first weekend in April.

I agree. I tried driving on my stock 17" wheel/tire combo when it first snowed last Thanksgiving - baaaad idea. Got halfway down my street and literally stopped on the first incline. Had to reverse (with my tail between my legs) and beg the wife for the SUV. 17" Blizzaks are fantastic however - like driving in a tank.

http://www.minneapolis-tt.com</a
