Magical Gear Oil Redux
New info: Had a hard time shifting into first twice yesterday. Bounced off of synchro twice (speculation) and then it went in. Happened again on the way to work this morning, I went straight to the dealer. The gear oil had arrived days ago. (Grrrrr.)
Old gear oil was much thicker than new. Had no particulates, even ran a magnet through it to check for metal.
The bottles of new gear oil were 100% in German, so I don't know what weight they were. It smelled awful, so it was synthetic, right?
Shifting was much improved after a short drive to test. Left the car with them to replace loose interior trim on inside of hatch (which was in stock locally, BION.)
I'll let you know if it stays "better" over the next few days. "Audi Techline says it will get even better over the use of a day," says the tech.
Now if he got rid of the steering wheel vibration at 60-70mph, I'll have a perfect TT.
Back to pick her up in 30 minutes. I know you wish me luck.
Ivan
