Its the first three letters of the name of a popular Sports Network or
Electronic Stability Program - try the "search" feature but here's the explanation:ESP prevents the lateral and centrifugal forces released by acceleration, braking, swerving and rolling from taking the vehicle off course. It recognizes every shift in the balance of forces acting on the car and - if necessary - instantly adapts all systems to them.

Was ESP always an optional extra from the very first TT?
Had mine since August 1999 and cannot recall dealer asking if I wanted the ESP option - even though there is clear reference to ESP in the manual.
