Advice Needed. Body Work.

I just noticed a 1/8" deep x 1" long dent on one of the sheet metal "boxes" that run down the length of the underbody. It looks as if it may have been caused by improper lifting or something of that nature (maybe during transport).

The dent was severe enough to remove some of the undercoating, so I applied some 3M undercoating over the dent and then some paint over the 3M undercoating.

My question is whether or not I should bother to have this repaired. Does a dent this small affect the unibody, especially on this stressed/reinforcement area? I bought (vs. leased) the car and would like to keep it for a long time.

I'm from the motorcycle world (where dents in aluminum frames are BAD) and unfamiliar with sheet metal bodies.

if you want to keep it for a long period of time, fix it... (my opinion)

Hey we have alot in common- I'm also from the motorcycle world and have the same dent (I think) .

If the dent is on the seam under the body work I don't think it is a problem. Have the dealer check it next time your in. I agree about a dented motorcycle frame because any dent can cause frame alignment problems. But I think you can rest assured that your unibody index points have not moved on you TT. JIM
