Default Re: Bilstein shocks...

Just to let you know, Bilstein is currently working on some high-performance shocks for the Audi TT, which they expect to go on sale around September of this year. Their HQ is here in San Diego, and I have offered my roadster for testing. Sounds like some interesting products are forthcoming.<p><img src="http://home.san.rr.com/winefinds/1.jpg" border="0">

Default cool... would also like to hear more about the coilovers...

that Mance just installed. Especially his comment about getting the go-kart handling back for "Mark II" TT's. I believe Minda asked about this, but the thread is lost down the page already.

All thoughts welcome.<p><IMG SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/EVAN_NOTABUG_SIG.jpg"</IMG>

So would I. His setup sounds very cool. What I would really like is to try some changes in my 225q roadster. It has a nice ride, but I would like something firmer and a more aggressive. Fortunately, it appears as if some additional options will be coming our way.<p><img src="http://home.san.rr.com/winefinds/1.jpg" border="0">

Default Bilstein San Diego has been giving me the same speel for...

almost a year..."we're hoping to have something by September...October...November...December" ad infinitum. Still nothings been done. Also keep in mind Bilstein North America has no production facility in the states. They're production facility is in Germany.

I dont have a clue when Bilstein will have us shocks but I'll bet ya a box of Cohibas it will most certainly NOT be in Sept or even this year.

Sorry for the doom 'n gloom mentality of this. I know they will sooner or later come up with shocks and that will be a good day for all of us. And truthfully they could be burning the midnight oil on them now somewhere in Deutschland but I doubt it.

I wouldn't take you up on that bet, but we can always hope. Cohibas, ah yes, love them. Especially the Cubanos, which we can get in Mexico.<p><img src="http://home.san.rr.com/winefinds/1.jpg" border="0">

Default Just as I posted, got a call from Bilstein...

They were pretty certain that the shocks will be offered this year, but couldn't give an exact timeframe. They may use my car for some R&D, but weren't sure just yet.

I do know what the part numbers will be though:

1. Front Sport shocks: BE3-4638
2. Rear Sport shocks: BE5-6035

3. Front Heavy Duty: BE3-4637
4. Rear Heavy Duty: BE5-6034<p><img src="http://home.san.rr.com/winefinds/1.jpg" border="0">

Default Brad, some clarification, please.

I think I misunderstood the post.

The TTQ at the front gas has coil over spring struts. The H&R coilovers already include Bilstein internals.

The rear has a separate spring and shock absorber. Is it the latter you are talking about?<p>ChrisTTopher Lloyd

Default Lloyd, I'm talking about the shocks only...

I'm hoping that a shocks only upgrade would be a big improvement at a lower cost than springs and shocks. We'll see.<p><img src="http://home.san.rr.com/winefinds/1.jpg" border="0">
