Default POLL: Least expensive (cheapest) car you have owned? Price / Make - Model / Year (more)

I really liked the poll of what everyone was driving before they fell to the Gods of TT so here is another, with a twist. This is the Anti-Brag poll. Post the least expensive, more embarrassed to say you drove car. Go on.. I dare you!

$100 63 VW, sold it two years later for $125. No battery, so I had to park on hills.

'64 Pontiac Catalina 4-door convertible. Baby blue, white leather interior, white top. Also qualifies for the largest car I ever owned.

Default My first car ...1970 Datsun 240Z - $1900. I had it for 2 years, then got my first new car! 87 GTI

I don't think you would count my 1970 Datsun 510 since that car cost me $10,000 into it to turn it into a full blown SCCA GT4 Race Car!

BZ, your choice as to which was my cheapest car! lol <p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=3285"><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/ttsig.jpg" BORDER=0 alt="Click for Mods"></a>

Default Pick of the litter...

I had the choice of that or a black 1982 Ford Escort GT. The Ford had it on the looks but there was a very strange noise coming from the engine. I went with the Toyota. Junk yards can be fun.

Ahh.. those were the days.... Driving around "styling" in my Rusty, 4 door, Corrolla. I can't believe it myself. I even installed a radio I got from K-Mart or something, called it "The Booming System"

Oh well..

The TT shall redeem!

Default 1979 Buick LeSabre. Paid $850 in 1988. Most embarrassing? 1984 Ford Escort in 1992.

The two cars are notable for their carburetors. The Buick had a 350 V8 with a 4 barrel Holley carb. You could hear it suck air when you punched it even under the 5'x4' Steel hood. And I could literally watch the gas gauge move under hard acceleration!

The Escort had one of the famous bad Ford carbs of the early 80's. Notable because a replacement was $245 installed and I could not afford it! What's that lease payment on my TT? Life is good.<p>Ivan

From: Bay Area, California
Default Two winners: 1960 Plymouth Valiant ($5) and 1963 MGB Roadster ($free)

The Valiant was purchased from a little old lady from Pasadena (not literally...figuratively) for $5. It had started out being some sort of red color...when I got it in 1972 or so it was a nice shade of faded pink. It had push button gear selecting on the dash..that had a mind of its own. It would overheat on the 280 freeway (SF to San Jose) if I went over 55 mph. I sold it to a junkyard after about 7-8 months for $50.

The next car was a 1963 MGB Roadster...black in color. It was actually free. It had been sitting in someone's front lawn for about 2 years untouched. I changed tons of things to get it to run...battery, brake master cylinder, starter, radiator, and a bunch of stuff I can't remember anymore. The best part about this car is that someone had probably thought it was a synchro first gear (early MGBs were not synchro first) so suffice it to say first gear was made inoperable. I had to start in second gear everywhere I went. That is fun. After about another 6-8 months that baby was sold to some local guy for $275. BTW, you have not lived until you own an old British car...when you do...you gain a real respect for other cars...and you tend not to worry about the little things on the Audi. British cars are notorious for falling apart as you drive them.

Anyway, thats my story...and I am sticking to it.<p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=3821"><br><br>
