Default another dilemma..

My dealer offered me today a 180TTC Quatro. whcih they use for demo, and has a little more than 4000 miles on it. He asked me if I would like to get this 180TTC first and later take it in for the 225TTC. It's pretty hard for me to decide, since the car already has 4000miles on it. I am a person who REALLY take cares of my car. What is really bothering me is that I have no idea how the car was driven in those 4000 miles. My dealer told me that hose 4000 miles are just from people test driving it.
Test driving? I remember when I test drove the TT, I really did gave it a "GOOD" test drive. (if you know what I mean). What about other people that has driven the car before? I doubt they didn't take the car over 100mph. .
What would any of you have done?
The car is loaded with options, and with msrp at $36000. Would you take the car if the dealer offers you $33000???

I ordered a 225C almost a month ago, and my dealer told me that it would arrive sometime during Late August or Early September.<p>Jason.TT

Default It's all a matter of MONEY.....

Why not ask the general manager of the dealership to give you a guaranteed trade-in price (in writing) for the 180TT Coupe based on various mileage estimates for August, September and October. That way you'll be able to see exactly how much it's going to cost to drive for the next 4 or 5 months.

Don't forget about the impact of sales tax if you end up buying two cars. In some states (like California) you'll pay sales tax on the full value of each car. In other states, only the difference between the value of the new car and the value of the trade-in is taxable.

If the dealership is unwilling to give you a written trade in value (based on reasonable wear and tear on the car), then you may want to wait. Short term ownership of a car is usually an expensive proposition.

my car ,a 2000 180 fwd coupe was the demo , it only had around 275 miles , 4000 is something else. i think now after having it for a month that i would have waited for 2001 for bigger engine and extra year or warranty. I had mine only 1 week when i found about the 4 year plan. My sales person said it was a total suprise.

Default Look at it this way.

If you had just had the brand new car delivered to you, and a stranger came up and said, hey, I will pay you $3000 if you let me take your new car now and drive it for a few months and put 4000 miles on it and then bring it back looking just about like new, would you go for the deal? Not me.
