Turbo waste gate valve problem on 180TTQ
I took my car in this week to my dealer to listen to a funny sound that happens as you lift off the gas during an upshift. It sounds like a spring wiggling. Anyway it turns out that there's a problem with the wastegate valve and the dealer says its the third 180hp car he's seen with the problem including a brand new 180hp roadster sitting on the lot that they don't want to deliver until it's fixed.
The part's on order. Anyone have any experience with this yet?

Please respond... When I open the hood my injectors seem to be real loud, and I hear a vacuum...
sound anyone else? I asked the tech at the dealer and we even checked it out on the 1551, no error codes. The car performs great but I wonder if I am missing something?

to try and get results. I told them the very first time I brought the car to NewtonMotorsports (Sussex, NJ) (ex. Audi Dealer, I understand) I thought it was a wastegate problem. Between two dealerships and 4 months, they replaced 2 turbos, 1 full flywheel, clutch assembly, 1 transmission, and various parts only to finally have a "audi tech from germany" tell them that it was a turbo wastegate control valve.
It seems that Audi makes it difficult for us to really want to own these cars....

Neil, we have had a very recent discussion regarding this problem, and my 180 coupe made the exact sound that you are describing. Per my dealer, the fix is to replace the turbo bypass valve. I didn't actually attempt the repair, since the NM is going back to Audi soon anyway, but he claims that it will alleviate the problem.<p><img src="http://home.san.rr.com/winefinds/1.jpg" border="0">
