questions: 2001 TTQC MSRP / Quattro Question
I have a few more questions, and have thus far enjoyed my quest to obtain a 2001 TTQ Coupe. You are all great. It's been a while since I've been on a list like this where people are actually eager to answer questions and help out, rather than scoff at the 'newbie'. Anyways, here we go:
First of all, I'm shooting for a Black 2001 TT Coupe with Quattro. I've encountered a dealer that comes highly recommended by a friend, and they have quoted me a price. However, I can't seem to find (even on this list) what the MSRP on the 2001 Coupe is supposed to be. I'm wondering if the dealer is charging me over MSRP, or on the dot. My buddy is getting a 2001 S4 and a 1.8T, and he tells me that both cars are listed at MSRP by this dealer. The 2001 TTQ Coupe with all options has been quoted to me at around $38.5k. I'm wondering if this is right on the money? From what I've gathered, that's what the 2001's are running, but I'm not sure if this is MSRP or not. www.audiusa.com seems to only list the 2000 model and the Roadster.
Second question. In the past, I've had nothing but bad luck through dealers, which is where my only reluctance is. Due to this skepticism, I tend to be very, *very* critical of detail, which is a good thing of course. My main concern is, when I actually go to pick up my car and give it the inspection before accepting the car, is how do I tell that it *really* is a Quattro car? Is there any significant visual signs to look for? This is my first Audi, so the actual appearance of the presence of the Quattro system is unknown to me. I plan to check the car top to bottom, check for all of the options that are on the list which I ordered, and Quattro appears to be the only option that I don't know how to reliably check for. There's the obvious, such as the larger gas tank, longer wheel base (I think), etc. However, those things are somewhat difficult to check when purchasing the car, and would make me look somewhat foolish out there with a tape measure.

Pardon my rampant use of run-on sentences, and perhaps terrible grammar. I really must stress how much I appreciate all of the help and feedback you all have given me in the past few days. You all know how to make a new member welcome. Kudos to all of you.
Cheers,
Chris Lawrence

A Quattro badge will be on the front of the car by the Audi rings. There will be another one on the back of the car on the side opposite the TT logo. There is also a Quattro badge on the aluminum by the glove box.
There is also a difference in the trunk space of the TTQ. I can't remember for sure, but I think the TT trunk is flat and the TTQ trunk is angled slightly. I might have it backwards, though.
I don't believe there is a difference in the gas tank capacity between Q and non-Q cars. The difference is between the 180 and 225 cars. The 180 has a single exhaust while the 225 has a dual exhaust.
The wheel base is a little larger, but it's negligible.

gas tank then the non-Q - partially to make up
for the worse mileage. So, your range is actually
slightly increased with a Q if you get the
EPA mileage.

I hope you got my email concerning your previous inquiries. Not knowing whether or not you are looking at a 180 or 225, the quattro issue is this
-180s come FWD and Quattro. Quattro version has a badge front grill and rear right 'bumper' fascia. Also, go to rear of car and get under car (will only fit partially unless you are a very small person)and look directly behind black muffler you will see a cast finned alloy differential and then look at rear suspension...if has multilinks and half shafts you got a quattro. There are very small dimensional differences...example wheelbase on FWD is 95.4" and quattro is 95.6". And last the car sticker will state FWD or Quattro...and no dealer is going to mess with that sticker...federal offense.
-If you are looking at a 225...comes only as a Quattro.
My 2001 225TTQC with Prem. package and Bose audio package listed $38,925 and that includes transportation.
2001 Amulet Red 225TTQC
