Humming Noise with 225 /need to find 3M clear protector
I just picked up my 2001 225 TT quattro. I've got a humming noise around 3000rpm during acceleration. Does anyone else get this? Also where can one get those clear front covers by 3M and do they work? P.S. does modifying the exhaust void the warranty? I love the car but it needs to be a little louder..

I have invincashield on my Desert Green 180q.
No stone chips yet. Barely noticeable unless you are looking for it.
Invincashield has a custom kit that covers at least half the car, if you want to spend the $ on it. Most buy the kit that covers the bumper and fenders.
I hired a window tinter to apply the film and watched them do it. It was a pain in the butt and took them 2.5 hours.

I have the same car since four months and are very
happy with it. I intstalled the Invincashield two weeks ago and the results are excellent: allmost invisible and easy to clean. However it took me four hours for installation, the front lower part being the most difficult. I hear some humming, vibrating noise too around 3000rpm but guess this is normal.

humming common on 225s
The humming is common on new 225s (but not universal). It has also been reported on some 180s. There are a couple of theories - an exhaust resonance and the turbo blow-off valve. To date I haven't heard about anyone who has successfully had it fixed.
My service guy thinks it is the exhaust and tells me to drive it and watch it go away as gunk builds up in the exhaust. After 900 miles it is still there (he thought it would go away after about 500 miles). It can happen at other rpms, always under load. This makes me believe the blow-off valve theory, but only because the exhaust resonance seems less likely.
