Definite "must have" in Roadster glove compartment
Sun block! This is probably common sense to you Californians and residents of sunny climates, but not so obvious in the UK. I got absolutely burnt to a crisp over the weekend in Scotland and there will be a tube of sunblock in there from now on.
The only real downside to the entire weekend was the suicidal flies and midges up there - had to clean the car daily to keep them at bay. Apart from that had an excellent time. No bank holiday traffic and some marvellous roads - now I have to have the grin surgically removed!

Paul, I'm afraid I don't beleive you...
First you claim that the Lake District has been in the middle of a heat wave and now you're claiming that you got a sun-tan, in Scotland, on a bank holiday weekend, in April ?!?

Sorry, got a bit carried away there in fantasy land! Seriously though it was really warm and sunny (can you believe that?) We went to Wigtonshire - south west Scotland - and stayed about 20 miles east of Stranraer in the most bizare hotel just outside Glenluce. Thouroghly recommend this part of Scotland for a visit and it's easy access. Follow the M6/A74 to just north of Carlisle and turn left to Stranraer on the A74. Once you get on to the A74 things disappear in the mirrors very easily. We saw two bikers when we stopped for gas at Dumfries and saw the same two bikers at various places through the weekend - there really is that little traffic.
Ah well - must go as I have to hit the aftersun (again)
