Radar Detector Stuff
I haven't received my car yet, as I just ordered it yesterday. Should be here around August. I'm trying to get all of my "issues" sorted out before the car even gets here, so I can take care of everything at once and be done with it. One major outstanding issue is the radar detector. Currently, I have one of these detectors that can only be mounted on a visor with the clip that is molded into the unit. Personally, I really don't like dash mounted detectors either.
In looking at the TT's, I've found that their sun visor is not really equipped to host a radar detector (or am I just not seeing it correctly?). Anyways, my 911 has a really neat built-in radar detector, the kind that has the blinking lights and ***** mounted in the actual area where the spedometer, fuel gague, oil gauge, etc live. The actual sensors exist as one built into the front fender, and one build into one of the rear fenders. I've found it to be pretty accurate too.
Problem is, I bought this car from a 3rd party, and forgot to ask them who installed the detector, where to buy one, how much it costs, or even what brand it was. I've looked around, and I can't seem to find anything like this on the market as purchaseable. Do any of you know of this sort of thing, and where it can be purchased? Further, will it be able to be installed in the TT without a great deal of hassle?
Backing up a bit, also let me know if I'm wrong about mounting a visor-mount radar detector on the visor. I may be blind or something.
However, I really enjoy how the detector in the 911 is barely noticable to someone who doesn't know its there, because when turned off, it just looks like a warning light of some sort that is not on, and the **** looks exactly like the 'delay' **** for the windshield wipers, and is located right next to said ****. It's real slick, and I'd love to have something like that for the TT, to avoid policemen bothering me about having a detector.Any help would be greatly appreciate! Thanks a ton!<p>Chris Lawrence

The only draw back was no rear protection from radar. Installation by a local shop was only 1 hour. HTH.
True 360 protection, directional arrows for location. Also number of threats and which is strongest. All bands, Laser and undetectible by VG-2. Believe their ads.
If you've not seen one, it also sticks to the windshield glass with clear suction cups and a small bracket. An option is a remote readout about the size of a couple of match boxes.
Hardwires easily with wiring included. Plugs are modular phone jacks (RJ-11, I think).
Without the remote, it's $405 delivered.
No, I don't work for Mike Valentine, just like his product. We have four and counting..

While the sun visor's normal "at rest" position causes the detector to be angled down slightly (aiming a little toward the hood) it doesn't appear to impact sensitivity. One of the pluses is that it's hardly visible (to a thief) from outside.
