Thanks for your insightful comment. I'll remember that it's a bypass valve when I go in to get it fixed.

BTW, Wagner has (had?) a lovely green 180hp TTR on the lot Saturday just looking for a home (once they fix the bypass valve on it). Looks like a lot of fun

. On the other hand I think I like the "year round" usefulness of the coupe in New England.

Are you referring to the sound (like blowing on a soda bottle) between 2700 and

3000 rpm when the engine is accelerating? If so, did Wagner agree that its the bypass valve?

Are you saying that the noise is normal and caused by the waste gate

because there is an overboost condition? I've only got 700 miles on the car so I haven't been accelerating hard just regular upshifting thru the gears with light throttle.<a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=4741">

Yes. System overboosts at 1750- 3000 to hide small cc effect.

the boost is modulated to norm max( which i forget) thereafter. The chugga chugga noise is waste gate letting that off. The 3 different TTs I drove, plus a handful of friends/aquantances off this forum (all 225s) have exhibited this noise. My dealer told me nothing to worry about. They often give that line, I know, but mine did same from day 1 to selling it after 20,000kms of mainly hard driving. Never broke.

Don't worry, that is what warranties are for.
