Chipping and Borla
I read a lot on this forum about chipping and installing Borla on the TT. I'm totally illiterate when it comes to car engines. Can anyone please tell me what chipping and borla stuff means? What would it do as far as my TT's performance goes? How much would it cost if I want to get it done? Where in Detroit, MI I can get it done... and any other comments.

Borla is a replacement exhaust system (from the catalytic convertor to the tail pipes (cat back). The cost is around $450 and is produces a horsepower increase of about 10.
Chipping is installing a modified computer chip into your engine computer (ECU). The cost is between $500 - $1000 depending on how it is done and it produces an increase of around 20 to 30 horsepower. Put it this way...
A chip and exhaust will take a normal TTQ (with overall real world acceleration about equal to a Saturn SL2, assuming a 7.7sec 0-60 and 8.7sec 5-60 time) and turn it into a critter that will teach any Mustang GT driver some manners--while maintaining the stock TT's docile around-town behavior and superior handling.
With all the posts from folks who have performed this modifications, I haven't read of a single downside.
LarryTT posted some really compelling results a month or two ago after testing his chipped TTQ. You might want to search for those results...
