Default question about rattle/grinding noise and req. for a dealer in the DC area

My 180FWD Roadster has started making a faint noise from the bottom of the car (I can't pinpoint where). Of course these noises are always impossible to explain, but is halfway between a rattle and a grind. There is no vibration in the steering, seat, or pedals, and the noise is only noticable at very low speeds (forward and reverse). No other symptoms -- the car runs great.

Any idea what this is? Will I kill my TT if I keep driving it?

Can anyone recommend an Audi dealer for warranty service in the MD/DC/VA area? I must have loaner of some sort as this is my daily driver. I bought the car in CT so I can't rely on that dealer for service.

Thanks in advance,

HS

Default 4 Dealers in Area: Rockville Porsche-Audi, HBL, Heishman & Tischer

Heishman is closest to the downtown area.
I bought mine at Rockville, partially on the recommendation of my friend/neighbor who has had Audi's for years and followed his service manager there.
Fortunately, in the 10 days I've owned my TT it hasn't needed service.
Rockville does provide loaners for scheduled maintenance. I don't know what the policy is in your situation.

Default HBL also provides loaners for scheduled maintenance. Haven't decided if I would recommend...

their service department yet. So choose them at your own risk...
Pat R -- Arlington, Virginia

Default So is the industry standard to NOT provide a loaner for unscheduled warranty service? that sucks...

At least with scheduled maintenance you can plan ahead. When your car breaks down is when you really need a loaner.

I can vouch for HBL - Bought Audi TTC, TTR, and Mercedes from them

Default I didn't mean to imply anything about loaners on unscheduled service

I just don't know the answer, since I haven't had any issues that can't wait for a scheduled maintenance. (keeping fingers crossed)

Call the dealer and ask. Actually, you may want to choose from the four based on who can get you in soonest. HBL's service dept is usually pretty backed up...
Pat R -- Arlington, Virginia

Default My condolences then...

The Merc side, and the Audi side in April 98 were fine. Recently though, my opinion of HBL has slid severely. Anecdotal stories from my brother's friends who had salespeople standing around (on a slow night, I assume) saying "Man, he'll never get past the credit check"...which is insane considering he drove in with a Ferrari. The hoops that they made my roommate jump through purchasing his S4 in Feb of this year clinched me not buying anything more from them, at least Audiwise.

At least the salesperson we had (Reza Amjadi) did everything in his ability to smooth things out. Hopefully he changes dealerships so I can buy something from him again.

Oh, and did I mention the wonderful TT shirt I was given by the dealer, and pins for fellow TTers?
