Default How car buyers blow their own minds...

Alright, I'm already being Mr. Indecisive as to blue/grey and green/ebony (as to which to order)...and my roommate comes home yesterday saying that the dealer has a silver/black 2001 coupe just sitting there saying "Who's my daddy?"

I could certainly live with silver. Its a very nice color. It would get the TT in my hands sooner. Only thing is would I hate myself later on, thinking of the blue or green beauty I could have had if I had more patience.

Default The black interior sure beats the gray one in my opinion.

I love the silver. It's neutral. It's very hard to tell if you'll still like a green or a blue a few years down the road, but you'll never hate something neutral like silver. The biggest downside IMO is that like 75% of TTs out there are silver/black (like mine)

Default I like green better, too, but it was not out yet when I bought my silver. Again...

Default Same problem here....2 questions....how long to you plan to keep the car and

how much longer do you have to wait? Consider the time you have already waited as sunk cost. If you change cars frequently the go ahead and get the silver; there's a lot to be said for immediate gratification. If, however, you plan on a long love affair, well, the answer is obvious, isn't it? Love should never be compromised. Of course (at the risk of being accused of gender bias), this is purely a woman's opinion.

I was in a similar boat, however, money was more of an issue. I stand to come into a good chunk of money in about 4-5 months from a stock buy-out of our company, so this was the big basis of my decision. When I went to the dealership to order a 225C black/grey with all opts (minus cellphone), they had a 180R with all options minus Quattro, black/black. I could have easily said "I don't really need quattro, and roadsters ARE cool and all", but a part of me just said "NO, order *exactly* what you want, get the bigger engine, get the quattro, get it how YOU want it, and deal with waiting a few months, it is well worth the wait for a car that you can enjoy for 10, 20, or more years."

I took this route, and ordered, and will wait for the car I want, versus what happens to be available at the dealer. This is my suggestion, because unless you're buying the car for a quick turn-around, you'll kick yourself in a year or two, and you'll kick HARD.

Cheers!
Chris Lawrence

Default Get it!!!

Even if you like another color better, this car is so much fun you certainly won't ever hate yourself for getting the "wrong" color. Mine is not the color I wanted, and I still get a little jealous of those green ones, but I have no regrets. The "right" color would not have been worth the extra wait (assuming it showed up in the right color even after waiting!).
Pat R -- Arlington, Virginia

Default I will qualify that by saying: as long as color's the only difference from what you want.

I say get exactly what you want... your long term satisfaction will pay back the time spent waiting. This is simple, really-- if you already know that you would hate yourself down the road for not being patient, then you should wait. Jeff, listen to that voice in your head! Otherwise it will scream at you later on...

Default Speaking as another person waiting for a Desert Green

... I don't see many Audi TTs of any type where I'm at here in the Kansas City Area. However, The number of Silvers, and now seems to be the number of Nimbus / Optic Leather combos is very high, however the number of Blue Coupes and Green Convertables seems very low...

This coming from a guy with a wife that owns a green bug. It drives me nuts the number of them on the road these days. Seems like every day we see a minimumm of three. I take silent sick pleasure in knowing that mine's a green turbo and those are more rare, but it still bugs me! (pun intended)
