Default ESP or no ESP?

I am considering buying a TTQR without ESP. Or wait longer to get one with. Is having ESP much better or worse. Do some of you without it wish it had it? Are any plan on getting it aftermarket?

Default To ESP or not to ESP (long)

First, I have one comment on your thought of getting it "after market". From what I have read, adding ESP is "major surgery" on a TT. I believe that, in Germany, they are only doing it at the FACTORY. Last I heard, Audi of America was still studying ways to do it in the United States, and had not promised to add it to those without (or may charge for it). My info may be out of date.

I went through the same ESP/no ESP debate a couple weeks ago. My understanding is that all TT's produced on/after week 18 (which I think is this week) will have ESP from the factory. So, I decided that it was worth it to get one with - considering it's only a few weeks differnce in arrival time.

I view ESP as a safety feature. I will probably never need it. But, if it saves my a$$, even once, it will have been worth every penny and every second of the extra wait. And, if I want to, there is a button to turn it off (though there was some debate over whether it's "re-enabled" on braking).

IMHO, ESP is good. I have had several dealers try to convince me otherwise (one even told me that it didn't do anything under about 120 mph, which is B.S.), but of course, they were trying to sell me TT's on their lot that didn't have ESP.

On the other hand, I know a lot of TT owners are perfectly happy without it (some even happier), so it's really a personal prefernce.

Default Agreed. Braking does not re-enable ESP on mine

Default I've been here for a year and followed the it all. When I got my first drive in my 225C ....

on Wednesday night, the fact that it doesn't have ESP didn't even cross my mind (meaning I could have cared less). I was frankly somewhat upset when I first learned my car wouldn't have it, but I'm completely over it. My initial feeling is that if your often in non-track situation's in a 225C that will require ESP, the reckless driving tickets will add up quickly!

Default So many factors to consider...

Personally I decided to wait for it and I am glad. I have talked to expert drivers that have had it and although they do not use it too much, they think it is very useful for non-experts like myself. I drive cars quite hard and would prefer to have a safety net for the first few months. The beautiful thing is you can turn it off at any time.

I only see upside including better resale.
