Default quick help on argument for TT

my friend cannot believe that this car is $30k, he thinks it is highly overpriced. He calls the concept and the car a 'valiant effort'. WTF, can you give me some very specific arguments why he is a fool, and why this price is actually highly competitive considering what you get with this car compared to any others in this price range...

Tell him to drive one and compare it to any other car in its price range or lower. The argument should be ended. In my opinion Germans make the best cars, and unfortunately no good German sports car is under 30k, and if it is, it is skimpping somewhere.

Best of Luck

Why bother!!! From what you have said, the guy is a complete idiot and doesnt know his *** from a hole in the ground. Besides, you have already summed up the argument. Compared to other vehicles in it's class, the TT comes with standard features that are options in other cars for less money. And besides, just going on looks, it beats them all hands down, Boxter included. Time to find a friend who knows a good thing when he sees it.

Default Don't waste your time!

I don't know what criteria your friend uses to evaluate a car. By many measures the TT is a fine automobile and very cometatively priced. For power, handling and styling all in the same package, the TT comes out a winner even at a significantly higher price. Have your friend check out the Forum, the Registry and the articles that have been written about this car. Or, as has already been suggested, have him drive one. But that may be too much to expect. I probably wouln't waste my time arguing with him.

Default It's overprice if your argument is based on hp/$, but factor in style, and the balance changes.

Sure, an SVT Mustang Cobra is a hell of a lot faster, but it's a different kind of car.

If your friend is considering peformance first and foremost I do, however, see where he's coming from. At the gym tonight I parked my TTQ next to the Civic Ex that dusted me a few weeks ago. I had chest pain when I saw it had an -automatic-.

Still, I may not be the most enthusiastic TT-er here, but as an all around package, considering the car's handling and design, is IS fairly priced. The tooling costs for the interior bits alone make it seem worth it.

Default don't know that driving will help...

I drove the TT and any number of other 2 or 2+2 sports cars and the Honda S2000 came away the winner for the performance, handling, and overall "sports car" feel. The TT is a beautiful automobile, but for $32,000 the S2000 is an engineering masterpiece with fantastic pricing.
