New 225TTR impressions
1. More understeer, however not bad, it seemed to translate into a better road feel much greater sense of the car being glued to the road.
2. quick lane changes and minor manouveres felt good.
3. Car seemed actually more solid than the 180
4. Great midrange torque
5. Turbo boost more noticeable than in 180, again in a nice way
6. First gear launches (fast) a little tricky, it seems either all or nothing unless you feather the clutch.
7. Noisier on the highway than the coupe
8. stupid tonneau cover, makes the power roof unecessary needs boxster type tonneau
9. Much better exhaust /engine sound
10. Now all I need is the MTM chip!
Note that the TT engine torque depends on throttle pedal position AND velocity. If you press the pedal quickly you get lots of torque to accelerate quickly. Most people I think are used to pressing the pedal quickly to a certain position then holding it there. On the TT this quick little pedal push sends a message to accelerate quickly. Pushing slowly to the same point will slowly accelerate.
In other words: Pedal depression speed is proportional to car acceleration. Pedal position is proportional to final velocity.
The TT is a VERY smooth car IF you press the pedal slowly.
