I love the TT body style and interior but it just lacks power. If they made the TT with the S4 engine I would probably be a buyer. Any info on getting a TT in the sub 5 second realm in the 0-60 category? Or making it as good track car as my M Coupe? Thanks, nice cars too<p>Z

Default Drawn to the dark side ... no confirmation on a S-TT yet, but a chipped 225 >

should be able to get very consistent mid-5's without much clutch abuse (250 hp / 275 lb-ft). The 225hp version, BTW, has just been released. With respect to "as good of a track car," TT & M Coupe owners could spend days flaming each other on the existing merits of each if they chose.

Don't want any FLAME! I hate that crap. I love Audi's and I would have bought a TT if they were slightly faster and handled a little better. There is no denying that the TT has a better interior and arguably a better looking exterior. Ok, so lets say I bought a 225TT QTRO. What would I have to do to make it REALLY fast without spending too much money? Chip, intake, exhaust? And then do suspension mods to make it more of a sports car? I really think the TT is like the Mercedes SLK. It's a cruising car, nimble and quick but not violently fast. I want the best of both worlds. AGAIN, NO FLAME please. Just bouncing ideas of Audi experts,
thanks.<p>Z

Default As you many know the S8 and S4 Avant will by comming to the US. It is a sure bet the S6 will follow.

.. The TT is too new in the 'product cycle' for an STT but you can count on one in the future. The engine is an open question as the Bi Turbo won't fit (Im 90% sure of this). The ABT 6 clynder TT used a VR6 as a starting point so this is a possibility. There is also talk of an inline 5 which I think would be trick and less weight than a v6. As to the 0-60 times it's simple math; weight and horsepower. The 225 is so new here that I don't think we really know what the car is capable of. Finally the M3 is beaten buy Acura Intergas routinely at SCCA events so is it that good of a track car anyway? JIM

Default For $1,000 more you can get under 6 sec 0-60 on a 225QC. That is pretty damn fast.

Chip = $500
Exhaust = $500

If you want faster a used mustang and $5000 will get you there.

Default The 225 ho coupe will beat the pants off of an SLK no matter how you slice it...

The published Audi 0-100 km of 6.4 sec's for the coupe is conservative and is really more of a consistent 6.0 sec. Stock, the torque curve is flat from 207 lb/ft from 2200 RPM up through close to 6000 rpm. Its not violent because Quattro puts the power to the ground smoothly - none of the potential rubber burning or the wheel hop that can blow the take-off of RWD cars. An MTM chip ($700 or so) will boost peak torque to about 275 lb/ft a little above 3000 RPM and boost peak hp to around 250. There are many other US chip makers who will follow cheaper, but MTM's been makin' them in Germany for Euro 225s for a year. Intake/exhaust mod's won't do much because the 225 already breathe's about as well as it can. On the 180, aftermarket exhaust is worth the $, but I would doubt it on the 225. I don't think anyone in the US has chipped a 225 yet, but you can take a guess as to what an up to 35% boost in torque will do.

Aftermarket springs are available and some shocks are hitting the market - for the springs go to the archive function and try to do a search in the Archive function for "H&R Sport Springs," but at the end of the day, if oversteer is a must in your handling equation, the TT may not cut it.

Default the rumors of a 300hp TT are still at large (and don't get me started on Mustangs)

I'm still dying to hear the official word on when the 300 TTs will appear, if they will. I've heard Fall or next Spring, and if either is true, then I'll be rushing to get on top of one of the lists.

Chip THAT car, and you'd have something "violently fast," I do believe. The chipped 225 should get below 6 in the 0-60, and I imagine that a chipped 300 would get around 5 flat, maybe less...can't wait!

And yes, the Mustang is the ultimate building block, as I keep saying =) The fastest street-legal cars in the country are modified Stangs.

Also, I have to admit, I really don't like the body of the Mcoupe. It's lines just don't appeal to me at all... the Roadster I like, but I much prefer the TT---not to mention that there are already some Z3s in the lot here at work =)

Default A "ho coupe"? [insert tasteless pimp joke here]

Actually, the coilover springs are the way to go, from what I hear. And you can't beat being adjustable =)

Default Former 'stang owner... it was fun... but time to move on..

I used to own a 1985 5.0 with a 650 dbl Carb. It was like a big stick of butter. I modified it and got it up to 245 HP and could boom around town eating much smaller cars.

Of course.. in the winter I had to put 2 80 pound bags of grain to keep from sliding off the road, which I did anyway into a ditch.

No safety at all... a death trap... ahh but survival was nice.

I also will miss the ability to open up the hood, take a look around and know that I could take apart and put back together most of it (no time limit please).

I am looking forward to comfort, speed and above all reliability. Taking the 'stang on the road was always like rolling the dice.
