Default insurance question.....

Can you guys tell me what your 6-month premiums are on your insurance? I've gotten some strange quotes myself. Strange in the extremes of some being almost too good to be true cheap, and some being outrageously expensive. Thanks.

Default Ahhh.... my favorite question (long)

When I went shopping for my 2001 225QC in NYC (youngish but clean record) I got quotes from $9,000 a year down to aournd $2,000. I finally got State Farm to give me a quote and when I added in the Lo-Jack and home insurance I got down to $142 a month ($1704 a year).

The long and short of it was that while the internet is good for cheap DVDs it stinks when it comes to insurance quotes. As painful as it is, pick up the phone and call them.

Good Luck,

Default Hey BZ, did State Farm lower your rate because of the LoJack? They told me no discount.

Default Yup... About $5 a month but said something about me being as low as I could go...

Meaning if I added on ten types of security it would not drop anymore.

The big one though was adding in my co-op insurance which paid for itself AND saved me money off of the auto rate... strange.

Default Oh yeah it sucked big time being young and single.

What ticked me off, was I was 25 yrs old, single, and clean driving record. I paid $150 a month for full coverage on a '96 Olds. Cutlass Coupe.

My wife, was 24, single, and paid $89 a month on a blue S10 (full coverage)

Then, we get married, first stop, insurance company.

Whats our new rate? $89 a month.

I was so hot. I asked the agent what the hell changed from friday to monday. I still drive fast, I still don't wreck vehicles...

They don't care, they love statistics.<p>Tom Boucher

Default With GEICO and the second car discount, mine is $374 for 6 months. Funny thing is that (more)

it is exactly the same (within 35 cents) of the amount I pay on my 98 Mercedes SLK. Although the comprehensive, collision, and mechanical breakdown insurance are higher on the TT, the liability coverage is higher on the SLK. They surcharge the SLK for "auto performance" but don't do so with the TT. Hmmmmm... (For comparing apples to apples, I should mention I'm female over 30 with a squeaky clean driving record, and the coverage I've got is $300,000 / $300,000 on the liability with $250 deductibles on collision, etc. I also have the mechanical breakdown coverage on both cars as well as rental reimbursement. My significant other's rates are substantially the same as mine on his coupe with the same coverages.

Default Agree with you there, except I put all the personal info in and got no quotes >

Also gave the lending tree a whirl and got nothing!! I presume its because the cars an 2001 (I ended up with insurance through Allstate (my existing carrier) and tbey didn't even have an 01 in the computer (I might be paying 180 rates for the 1st 6 months)
