J.D. Power initial quality rankings for each model
DETROIT, May 5 (Reuters) - The following chart shows how vehicle models sold in the United States ranked for problems reported by consumers taken from the 2000 J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality survey, a closely-watched industry benchmark.
The 2000 problem scores show the average number of customer-reported problems within the first three months of ownership per 100 vehicles, covering 135 specific problem areas.
J.D. Power, based in Agoura Hills, Calif., surveyed more than 47,000 owners of 2000 model-year vehicles. One hundred eighty-four cars and light trucks were rated.

I wonder if its a case where we're just really picky / **** / obsessive about things, so we wander on in to the dealer as things are discovered...and if something isn't quite right on your Tiburon you just go "Eh." and leave it.
Anyone? Anyone? I've never seen the survey's form, so I don't know how they avoid that bias.

So how did that car end up being the top American car on the list, way ahead of any Audis?? What I've heard from mechanics is that Audis are really put together well in the short term, but they start falling apart after 3 or 4 years. No one knows about the TTs and the other "new" models, because they have no history yet.
So what is the deal? This worries me a little... then again, most first year cars have a bunch of problems, so perhaps that's the issue.
Damn, Audi, don't make me get a Lexus =(
