Default Another Invisible Bra question......

I recently noticed a small chip on the hood of my 180 TTR, and now am considering a bra --- although I detest them. Anyway, perhaps this "invisible bra" I've reading about on the forum is the answer to my problems......a couple of questions though --
anyone have one and a digital camera who could post a photo of their car to show what it looks like (i.e. any lines)?? and, secondly, anyone know of a place that does them in the D.C. area (reliable, that does good work, etc.)?? Thanks.

Default I may be able to help

I have similar concerns and tracked down the Invinca-Shield people in N.C. They faxed me the details of their TT kit which consists of a selection of custom cut pieces made especially for the TT (and hundreds of other cars). There are a total of about 20 different pieces and you pick and choose the areas you wish to protect. Their phone number is 704-799-0411. e-mail: invincainc@alltel.net

They do not have any installers in this area, but said that any qualified tinter should be able to do it. My mechanic recommended L.A. Tint in Sterling (near where I work) and I am going to check them out on Monday.

I'd be glad to fax you what I have if you'll e-mail me your fax number. That goes for anyone else who is in the local DC calling area

Default Re: Another Invisible Bra question......

I have a "clear bra" on my TT as well as all of my other vehicles. Here in Colorado I would guess that more than half of the new Audi, BMW, Porsche, MBs do not leave the dealers lot without them. First of all, you will be very happy with the cosmetic and functional aspects of them. There is a "line" (about 12" up the hood from the front) at the same place that a traditional front end mask would end on the hood. You can see it from about 6 to 7 feet away but no farther. Second, DO NOT do it yourself. I would agree that a car tinting place would possess the expertise required. If you do it yourself you run the risk of it looking like a self done window tint job (full of bubbles). If you can find a quality installer, go for it. You'll never own another car without one.

From $20 - 400+ depending upon how many areas you want to protect PLUS installation

Default Just do it yourself !

The Invincashield is not a big deal to install. Just take your time (about 4hrs) and everything will be allright. Don't let anyone mess up your car !

Default May not be a do it yourself job ...

It's expensive to get it done right!

I had our dealer's subcontractor do it on our TTQ because our winter roads are constantly covered with volcanic rocks and sand for traction.

I watched most of the installation. The installer took about 6 hours to do it. Our dealer said that is a very difficult process to learn without taking a class and having several specialized tools. He was so right!!

There is very little evidence of it once it is installed, except for the wax build up that is visable at the edges. A soft toothbrush removes most of the wax.

The precut TT kits are incomplete and need additional, critical pieces fabricated for the rocker panels and rear fender flares.

The installation cost us $800. For our environment it is well worth it and I would put it on any new car that I cared about.
