TT off to meet its maker....well uncle since it's Ingolstadt and not Gyor
It's a real sweet and sour feeling and it really makes me appreciate owning the car and what a great car it is.
It's been a real roller-coatster ride with the production of the car, the great reviews, the unfortunate accidents and the contradictory publicity, the rumours etc and of course the great and up-to-date information every one submits and receives on this forum. My personal experience in owning the car so far is that it's been fantastic. I haven't had one single problem with the car that I could really complain about and I haven't ever had any cause to doubt the stability of the car either.
I have had the odd stiff 2nd gear on a cold morning which I'll get sorted out with a gearbox oil change at it's first service (I recall someone else on this forum having this problem and the fluid change sorted that out). The only other problem which annoys my wife more than me is shutting the boot/trunk as the car is so air-tight I have to open the windows sometimes to help her along. That's it, no other mechanical or quality problems. Let's just hope Audi don't introduce any when they add all of the ESP bits.
It's my personal preference only (and I have heard that the spoiler can be fit at the same time as the ESP) but I do not intend to take the spoiler at this stage or in the forseeable future either so to make sure I'm leaving polite notes around the car "Bitte kein Heckspoiler" as I have nightmares/visons of it returning with a fin. You must all think I'm mad but I remember when I first got the car home last September before all the hoohaa reading the manual and thinking "Hmm...maybe I should have waited for the ESP feature" described as a future but planned option. Well judgement day it is but not in the way I thought I'd get ESP. At least it's free (in the UK at least) and you get the Palmersport drivers day and a free loan car. Some might say this is a ridiculous thing to submit oneself to for a car at that price but for that wonderful TT concept you have to bleed a little to be on the cutting edge of car design.
I really want to try the original car with ESP first. I don't believe anyone has done that yet. If it pans out I'll leave it the way it is, if not then I'll get the suspension done and then the wing...but only if I think they are going to give me a better driving experience..ever driver to their own eh? Who knows I'll probably leave ESP off all the time anyway but I thought I may as well find out and have this time limited modification done.
Well it goes back to the dealer first thing on Monday ....all keys and service schedule book. In return you get to keep your tax disc and number plates (WOW!) and the use of a loan car. I think I have an A6 1.8T SE which should be an interesting drive....you never know one day I might end up being sensible and buying one......hmmmm. They do look nice and are supposed to be a good drive anyway.
So anyway I'll be a duck on dry-land for up to 6 weeks but I'll still keep my toes in the forum's water and hang on to the any snippets of a V6 STT!
Oh boy....my wife is going to think I'm a real sissy on Monday :-)
