Default Amourfend Question: Is it the same 3M Scotchcal film as Invinca-Shield and StoneGuard???

I'm in CT and I know they are local so I'm trying to convince my husband we need, want, gotta have this. He wants to see samples, hear testimonials, etc. Also by having them do the install I don't have to listen to him moan, grumble and groan for 4 hours while he installs it although he's certainly qualified mechanically.<p><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/wennch.gif " border="0">

Based on a brief discussion with RI rep, yes. It's a 3M product. Quoted $700. How bout you?

Default Yes. Same stuff. I self installed InvincaShield in 8-10 hours total (more)

over the course of a weekend to achieve a perfect application. It's not something you can do and do right without a fair degree of patience as well as clean room cleanliness. Don't attempt it unless you have a garage and proper lighting.

I am extremely satisfied, just ordered a kit for my wife's new Jetta VR6. TT cost about $450 DIY for a very complete kit. Before I would let anyone else install it, I'd ask to see their work (I'm picky)

I would not hesitate to do it again.<p><img SRC="http://www.mint.net/~kentech/auditt/ttsig.jpg" BORDER=0>

Default Haven't gotten a definite quote. The dealer will arrange to have an Armourfend (more)

technician come and install it at the dealership before I take possession. $500 was what he quoted but I'm not sure exactly which pieces.<p><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/wennch.gif " border="0">

Default Here is a testimonial...................

I have a 99.5 1.8t. I had the Armourfend guys in Greenwich, CT. (Joe Kane, Charles and staff) install the 3m film on my car. The install took place at their facility in Greenwich. I had the entire front bumper covered, as well as the leading edge of the hood and the two side view mirrors. I thought about putting the 3m film under the door handles, but, after seeing it in person, i decided not to have it done (i didn't like the way it looked). My installation took around 3.5 hours. That 3.5 hours was with two install guys working on the car. The installation looks easier than it really is. A good installation will have no bubbles, no creases, edges all tucked in and the film as invisible as possible. As far as samples go, Joe usually has his Porsche sitting in the garage (with the film on). There is a guy (Chris) who owns a business right next to Armourfend, that has an A4 with about 15 pieces of the film all over his car. I would strongly suggest you see a TT with the film on. Some people like the film, some don't. The film is not perfect, but, it will solve your paint chip worries. You can wax right on top of it (just keep the wax away from the edges). Hope this helps.

Default Sorry, but, i don't ....................

I live in Rockland County, NY. You're more than welcome to stop by for a look-see. Tell Joe or Charles that i recommended them to you (maybe it will help in a price reduction). I have a Hibiscus Red 1.8t A4, they'll remember it.

Default If you are going to be at Rik's on May 20, IslOMan will be down with his 180TT with the stuff on it

I have now seen it on Bullwinkles A4, on three different TT's and a few other A4's and assorted other cars . . .I am so totally convinced about this stuff for my car that I am going to be requesting Audi to repaint the nose of my car from the doors forward!

The Brilliant Black paint is so thin that it chips way too easily. I can't put the film onto the car as it is. It would look silly.

I saw Chris' car that is next to ArmourFend. he was up at Lime Rock over the weekend for the QCUSA School. His car is LOADED with the stuff. You can't even see it, it is done so well!

None of the cars I have seen it on is it even possible to tell, unless you catch the hood from the proper angle.

Just my $.02. <p><a href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=3285"><img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/ttsig.jpg" BORDER=0 alt="Click for Mods"></a>
