Coming from an A4 2.8 may be part of the problem but I find the exhaust tone to be very unpleasant - flat sounding with a lot of resonance (this is in addition to the 3K resonance which I also have). I'm wondering if an in-line resonator would help. I really don't want to start experimenting with a brand new car but this is pretty discouraging ... I know that most on the forum have commented that they like the sound but I don't know if I can live with it. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

I agree. Sounds too much like a 4 banger even though it is. I'd like to do something too but can't afford not to keep this nice warranty.
I can get the humming noise just about any time now with 400 miles on it. If i work the throttle a certain way I'm bound to get it. Around 3000 is the most noticable and I get keep it humming or a good 5 seconds. I've got a feeling we are just going to have to live with it!

If I had wanted a Hummer...
My experience is the same as yours; I can produce the drone (in C-Sharp) anytime by simply giving a little gentle throttle load. Unfortunately I drive that way alot, and the drone is really beginning to drive me nuts, especially when it persists for several seconds (700 miles). Furthermore, EVERYONE that I take for a ride in the car asks what is wrong with it, which is irritating.
I have no intention of living with it; I still have my 180Q and will either revert to it or buy an S4 if I can't get the potential that I still do believe is in this 225 expressed pretty quick. That means no drone/hum, a parcel shelf that doesn't rattle constantly (my other doesn't), and most of all a way of recovering the steering fun of the 180Q. Hopefully Bilstein or Koni will have a sport shock for the TTQ, with or without spring coilovers (I don't especially want to lower the car), SOON!!!!!!
I briefly actually thought I liked the "hum", but I was wrong.
