Default Poll: With all due respect to AudiWorld and its sponsors...

Who hates that Auto Supermart banner ad with the flashing, pulsating FREE text?

Default Oh yes

In fact, I can't stand 99% of the banner ads I see on the web. For as useful as the internet can be at times, there certainly is a lot of crap floating around cyberspace.

Default I have an idea! You are not alone and there are many more...

...of us who can't stand that ad and won't do business with them because of it. So, my idea is for all of us who can't stand it to go to their site just long enough to send them an email telling them of our disapproval. Last time the complaints arose, they removed it and put in a better one, but then they brought this damn thing back! :-(

The least they could do is just make the "free" move a little, but not pulsate, or animate the ad in some other way that doesn't cause headaches. Also, they could tell us what the heck it is that's free, becuase I haven't figured it out yet!
Charles

Brad et. al.

If you are using a PC, then there is a nifty little program out there that literaly kills all advertisment from web pages - including the ones on AudiWorld....

The program is called AdsOff - kills advertisment, gif animations, and popup windows.... A indespensible tool for wading throught the crap many web designers insist on wasting bandwith with....

See the link for the latest version.

http://www.intercantech.com/home.html</a

Default Someone has to pay for this service...

I don't care for ads either, but it's like television, the ads are paying for it.

Default Is a bit annoying, but

how about scrolling down an inch so it doesn't show.

Default Hit the stop button on your browser...and it stops animating...(and is therefore..less annoying)

Default Thanks, that helps. Still don't care for the ad's "shouting" design though.

Default Small price to pay... (more)

As a website designer and as someone who has 4 to 5 websites of his own that are all supported by ads, I have to say that it is a small price to pay for all of the things that you get.

$200 - $1000 a month for the webserver
$125 hr for support/changes
$? for software etc.

It takes a lot of time to set up and maintain websites and that time is worth something. The amount of money that I get back from ad revenue barely covers one or two hours of my time and does nothing for the rest of the costs. Most do it cause we love it and enjoy bringing the connected world to everyone.

Think of all the value you have gotten out of this website. You might even have saved money cause someone pointed you to a better price.

Just a thought.

Where do you think sources of funds come from? Ads are part of that.
