OT Rancillio Silvia espresso machine is great. Got it friday, did not hardly sleep all weekend
The fun part of learning to use it was in the great espresso. The bad part came at 1 AM when I was wide awake from too many test shots.
Recommended for those who are looking for a machine. Got it from Whole Latte Love.com, service was top notch.

And I need a new home machine, maybe the Rancilio Silvia is the way to go.

Whole latte love has an excellent reputation, and is well-known amongst net-savvy baristas. Before I bought my TT, I used to haunt the alt.coffee newsgroup more than anywhere else.
Through practice, practice and more practice, I learned how to do just the right tamp, just the right grind, just the right quantity of espresso, etc and could do great shots most of the time. Then after spending so much time and effort, I pussed out and bought a superautomatic, which not only grinds the beans, but also tamps for me, cleans itself, and even froths the milk.
This pic is almost identical to my machine, which runs over $3,000. Only, mine's not red, and unlike this one, it has the milk auto-frother.
The Silvia is a really outstanding machine. You should also look at their Rocky grinder, which is also excellent. If you don't roast your beans, you must do this. It's really cheap (about 1/2 the price of Starburnts), and you'll get much better crema with the fresh beans. Plus, you can do a lighter, Northern Italian roast, such as what I prefer.
Here's a link to David Bogie's espresso FAQ, which is the best you'll find. Bogie is a hard-core coffee hound, and I'll bet he still frequents alt.coffee. Take a look.

Espresso FAQ
