Silly radar question...

Ok guys ( and those of the fair sex ), a question from a lurker...

I am feeling a little pressure from the police around here, its not that I speed; Its just that I want to know they are around...

How effective are radar dectors, I often see the police parked just off road on my main route.. do you think that they would have the radar on ??

Just a question before I splash out on a V1...

here's the deal..

there's different models of 'radar gun', some are detectible as long as they're turned on, others only when they're fired (these are 'instant on'),.. the previous kind you will get plenty of warning about even if you're the only person on the road probably.

the second kind, if you're alone you're screwed,.. but if there's other traffic and the cop is shooting at other cars, it will likely bounce over and your V1 will pick it up.

i had the latter situation happen MANY times on a trip to chicago and back a week ago.

then there's laser, which is pretty much the same issue as instant-on,.. but you're less likely to get a reflection and pick it up.

after that last trip any shred of doubt in my mind that i need to buy a V1 was killed.

Two things: It is a radar finder not a police car finder, and give it 2 weeks to learn the V1

language. After you learn it, it is the best thing out there for radar. If a cop eye ***** you, follows you, or hits you with laser, you are still busted.

well, they aren't just eatin' doughnuts, I suspect yes. BTW-I'll sell you my Passport 7500 cheap...

I want to get the 8500.

On the way back from FH20 this past weekend Peters V1 saved us a few times !!

Saved me big time a few weeks ago - was doing 90 + got a warning !! sure enough he would have gotten me - WORTH the money ! - But they can still get you, It does give you some edge..

LOL: Guess you are right... I am often the only car on the road...

still, made it 20 years without a speeding ticket..

I am just worried that a radar will just invite me to speed !!!
