Default A Predictable story.......

So my left front and rear lights failed over the weekend, first thing Monday I am at the dealer in Arlinton, I pretty much knew what the problem was (faulty switch...What a suprise!!). Anyway another guy comes into the dealer with his TTR, apparently he had a 'Check Engine Light' arrhh I thought 'had to be DV trouble'. What was even funnier was that after telling the dealer that the switch was probably faulty and that the guys DV had more than likely failed. They still took 2 1/2 hours diagnosing my problem......The SWITCH.. And 1 1/2 hours diagnosing his ..... The DV.. Surely dealers must know what the most common problems are... To top it off, they had to order a new switch and a DV for the other guy.. we both left with the old ' We will call you when it comes in, dont worry when the computer warning lights come on, just ignore them' Great Great Service.

If I owned a dealership I would pay someone to read this forum, it could save them a hell of a allot of Money!!

Default That's the oldest game in the book...

Dealerships make money from Audi by working the warranty reimbursement codes. I was wondering how factory trained techs can be so ignorant, but it is just a savvy Service manager manipulating diagnostic related warranty reimbursement codes. The service at my dealer is exceptional, but rumour is that it is common practice to juice the suppliers for reimbursement. That is one of the reasons OBD II is more specific with fault codes.

Default My gut feeling about your ligting problem.......

I have serious doubts about it being a switch malfunction. Just a hunch, but I bet that you have a short to ground in your left rear taillamp harness. They may have replaced the switch, but it's possible that at the same time they replaced it, the offending wire was not touching the grounding spot.

Morbid curiosity here, but let me know in a few days time if I'm right for a change:-)

Default "We'll call you when the parts come in"

That one's right up there with "the check's in the mail" and "I'll respect you in the morning"

Default The one I always get is "Unable to duplicate customer's concerns at this time"

and then you notice miles in equals out on the invoice... When did they "try" to duplicate any concerns if you didn't drive it ?

I just got that line of BS at a VW dealer who worked on my wife's Bug.
