Reverse question: On our TT's we have to push down and to the upper left to get into reverse. My ...
question is: is this somewhat common with other cars? I'll have to admit when I first got my TT, I didn't know that until the delivery guy pointed it out and after reading the manual.

On most manual-trans Mercedes, you have to pull up on the shifter.....
Let's see.....ok, on the Lamborghini Countach, you have to flip a little lever that blocks the reverse gate.
Older Saabs and Volvos, there is a little collar under the shift **** that has to be pulled up.
Ferrari 360(F1)....you have to engage a little tiny lever on the center console.
This Beck 550 that we have at the dealership, for the first couple of weeks, I would have to get out of the car and push it backwards if I was foolish enough to get myself into a situation where reverse was necessary. Then I found reverse after a while, but it was a struggle to find it.
I'm sure there are more...

After waiting for a year, when I took my car for a 1st spin at the dealer's last year, I thought 1st
was reverse and pulled out of the dealer's lot in 3rd. Needless to say, I thought the turbo lag was significantly more severe than it actually is. D'OH!!
