intruments/horn gone awry
Here's my question. At about the same time that the instrument cluster went south I noticed, what I think is, an occasional random bip from the horn -- the same thing you hear when you set the alarm. Now I'm not entirely sure I'm hearing this, since the car is running at the time, but it's happened several times now so I think I'm hearing what I'm hearing. Has anyone else heard anything like this? Could it be related to the instrument cluster problem I'm having? I guess I'll just pass my impressions on to the service dept. anyway, but I was still wondering if my experience is unique.
Not familiar with the horn or beep sound, but certainly possible.
Probably one of three things:
1) fuses need proper seating.
2) cluster connecter is loose.
3) cluster is hosed.
Oh, one more thing. If condensation from a drink in the cupholder is dripping down and collecting in the phone jack, weird things happen as well.
Didn't try reseating fuses. The instrument cluster malfunction is sporadic and seems to occur less when the temp is warm. I suppose, if it's a fuse seating problem, that a higher temp might expand the metal and seat the fuses better (how's that for armchair science?). I'll try fiddling with the fuses tonight. Thanks.
