Default Creaking noise behind roadster seats?

Ever have a persistent creaking noise in both corners behind the seats of the roadster? About shoulder high, best I can tell. Even on smooth roads and at slow speeds. I haven't been able to isolate it and the dealer has the car for the second time to fix the same noise (bought in January). Said they're having trouble solving these creaks with others' TTRs.

I'd be interested in what solutions, if any, others have found.

I had that problem too back in early January. It would occur in the mornings after start up and early in the drive away it would go silent. It emminated from the exact position you describe. This happened on particulalry cold mornings (for the coastal area of Southern California, that is).

Maybe it's the cold in the soft top's struts.A kind of creaking noise. Where do you live?

Default Re: Creaking noise -- I'm in the Dallas area

I live in the Dallas area. Cooler here but the noise still occurs even when the temp's in the 70s. Doesn't seem to be affected by temperature. Never really goes away, either. I can still hear it when the top's down, too. It's a very clear sound -- not muffled. Frustrating.

Did you get yours "repaired" or did it solve itself post-January?

I also have creaking noises coming from the pillars right next to my ear. It bother the krap out of me. My car is only 4 weeks old now. I called the dealer about this and he is going to look at it. Its gotten worse as I drive the car. The noise seems to eminate from the A pillars. Intially it had started on the drivers side but went away. Now its really bad on the passenger side and its starting to get the same on my side. Usually any creaking in any car will annoy me to death. I suppose its frustrating but I am not letting it stop me from enjoying the car. I suppose my situation is a bit different because I have a coupe, no reason it should be doing this cause its a stiffer chassis. Not to say that the roadster should creaking. You understand my point, or at least I hope you guys do. :-)

Default I have this from time to time with the top up. Drivers side only.

I tracked some of this to wax or foreign material on the rubber "seal" that the top rubs against. In my case it happened twice: 1st when my kids vinyl protected the area where the top folds down into; 2nd after the rains in So Cal. I put silicon spray lube on a terry cloth rag and rubbed it along the entire length of the seal. I got the idea from the maintenance I do to my pool filter's O-Ring and my SCUBA dry suit seals. It took care of the prior creaking noises.

I've got a new noise, however, within the last week that I have not tried this on. So, I won't pretend to tell you it fixes all noises.

If it is only during times when the top is up, it's worth a try. It's a cheap fix, that should also help prolong the life of the rubber seal.

Good luck.

Default Guess you all have leather seats and the seats all the way back ?

It's the leather of the seat rubbing at the back .. it's mostly coming from the passenger seat but sometimes also from the driver's seat. Pull your seat a little towards the steering wheel .. it's just the sound of 2 materials rubbing at each other .. I have the same .. it's annoying but there is nothing a dealer can fix unless he knows something to prevent the 2 materials of sticking together and rubbing when moving. But that's something you don't really need a dealer for, right ?
