Engine internals 225 vs. 180 differences?

Default LarryTT and Exttreme checked ALL part numbers and there was NO diff. However John S pointed out that

while replacement parts may indeed be the same, the parts used in manufacturing may be different. I know that this is the case with some Honda Motorcycles for example. So until a 180 and a 225 are taked apart and each part measured, we don't know.

Default pistons are different to account for the difference in compression ratio

one is dished one is flat topped.

Default What was the source of the part numbers? Etka 5.0 ?

Etka is not always correct. I doubt that this is correct. According to all published reports by Audi and other technical papers I've read - there are several differences internally, included uprated main bearings, piston oilers (don't know if those are on the 180 though), pistons - which were already mentioned, as well as the external differences. However, as we all know - the 1.8T has undergone several changes over the past couple years - and I'm not quite sure if those changes to the lower HP versions were carried over to the higher HP versions - or if they existed in the higher HP prior to trickling down to the lower HP ones.

I don't know, but I do know that other than pistons there was no difference.

Default Engine internals 225 vs. 180 differences?

I know Audi doesn't publicize these details, but does anybody know about differences between the 180 and 225 engine internals? Aside from the obvious (K04 turbo, twin coolers), are the cylinders, valvetrain, gasket, camshaft, etc. any different? Also, any noteworthy tranny differences (aside from the extra gear)?
