Default Zaino Question...

Do I really need the clay bar? I was planning on buying the Z1-show car polish pre-cleaner, Z5-swirl polish, Z2-car polish for clear coat, and Z6-gloss enhancer. That's a lot of work. Is the claybar really necessary? I live in Houston, Texas, so besides the hot sun, I don't have a lot of weather issues, (ie. salt or sand from frozen roads). Any opinions would be appreciated.

Default Clay Bar rocks... it will make your paint as smooth as a baby's butt...

and no matter where you live, its a great idea... it removes residue from pollution, road construction, tree sap, etc... and even the "rail dust" from your TT being shipped to port after manufacture. The rail dust can imbed itself and damage your paint. Also, its great for removing shoe scuffs on the door sills (when someone drags their feet and leaves a rubber streak.) Highly recommend.

Default Agree. When I clayed my car 2 weeks after delivery, it removed some overspray on the nose piece!

I would have never known it was there unless I had clayed the car. Awesome stuff!

I also recently used clay bar to remove some tough water spots from my side view mirrors as nothing else seemed to work, it worked beatifully!

Default Since we're discussing clay bar... (more)

can it be used over the areas that have a clear bra installed, or should those areas be avoided?

Thanks

Default Yes it can...

I use it to remove rubber shoe scuffs from the door sill pieces, and once used it to remove large marks in the air dam when I took out a few cones at the racetrack. You don't usually need to use it on a clearbra, though.

Also, you have to be careful of the edges, so you don't wind up with a bunch of clay caught in them.
