Audi Update on TT225QC (also CT drive info at end of post)
1) Diverter Valve--ALL 2001 225 models have the "N" series Diverter valve, and it's working fine. No need to upgrade.
2) Raspy noise is normal at certain RPM's with the larger engine (225). Especially with no noticeable loss of power. (Mine's still very fast!)
3) My power steering "chirping" noise when cold was also found on other NEW TT 225's on the lot. Audi going to investigate. Possible fixes are change of power steering fluid, pump, or quantity, if it's the pump/resevoir system. Audi rep says they have no other reports. Could be something local dealer did or did not do in prep. All fluids though come from Audi, and the cars supposedly come from Audi with fluids. Audi says no damage being done, and safety is not an issue. I will report any updates/fixes.
3. Resostat (dimmer) switch noise when used varies by car believe it not. Basically no harm or electrical malfunctioning going on. In fact, once you roll down the window, the noise is barely audible. Only audible when parked in idle in your garage on most cars. Slightly annoying maybe, but no big deal. Better left alone, then bringing down the dash.
4. My paint "defect" turns out to be a scratch! Yes, the fingernail test lets you feel the ridge. Got to get that 8" scratch buffed out and/or touched up. The scratch is definitely into and through the clearcoat, leaving a hairline dark line, so the paint is most likely hit. Any ideas?
What a joy to get back into my TT after driving that A6 2.8 Avant loaner! What a sled!
Also, I may be able to join that CT drive in April. The Inn at Newtown serves a great Brunch, and we would get great pictures with the town's famous Flagpole in the middle of the street in the middle of the town! Then route 133 through Bridgewater, route 67 through Roxbury, then route 6 or 341 through Woodbury and Washington. Stop and browse at the Washington Bookstore, and maybe get some something warm to drink at the Washington Inn, (Mayflower Inn?).
Just a thought...
I'm a maybe at this point anyway, just thought I'd share a possible route.
