Hello -- Plus Forge DV Questions
Hello all
I joining you from www.bimmer.org - I traded in my 540/6 Sport, and my 750il on a 225R and a Honda Passport. I loved the 540's engine, but the rest of the car was a mess. It spent 71 days in the shop the first year I had it.
I am starting all of the typical mods, plus one more - extra headroom - will have the drivers seat reworked. Will post pics after I figure out how to do it.
So - the question - Forge right-side up, or upside-down? I have two different sets of instructions that give differnt views. Help!

I can't speak at your Forge question, as I'm horribly unqualified. Just wanted to welcome you to the group. BTW -- what's up with the 540? My neighbor has been pining for one for the last few months.....

You would think that the software was designed by MS. Random failure of ALL engine control, resulting in shutdown at highway speeds. Alarm would randomly arm, and disarm, WHILE DRIVING. Plus the "Known" bugs - the interior adjustments would lock in one drivers settings and not release untill a random number of "reboots" (retarts) set the seat /mirrors/wheel to default. The sunroof would freeze open, GOD WHAT ELSE!
I really had more problems with the car but they have been lost in the mists of time.
The 6 speed 4.4L V8 was an great combo however.
I just got tired of driving the 528 loaner.

What year? Mine was a 98. I spent a lot of time at the dealer - and the 96(97 US) - 99 5 series have great engines / suspensions and CHEAP interiors - I had my leather replaced by the dealer at 10,000 miles. The Sport package had different seats / stearing wheel, so I do not know if the software would be the same. If the car is semi-inexpensive ?? go for it, but I paid above list to have one of the first 98 540/6s.
