and yet another question: as of today if I were to...
walk into an Audi dealership and order a TT to my specifications, what do you think the wait time would be?

most likely 3-4 months depending on what your specs were
if a custom color then I would guess 6+ months. Anything else would be a stock type of order. If you had a good dealer they would be willing to check what is in the system nationwide for you and maybe trade or tell you where the car is and allow you to get it that way.
