Gas Flap won't open

Anybody have any idea why sporadically my gas flap won't open when i push the button in the car?
Sometimes the trunk release won't work simultaneously. The remote on the key works peachy.

Never fails to work impeccably when I take it to the dealer!

Couldn't find any previous threads on the search.

at least you can open it with the backup release. Is the car off or on? Don't think it works when ..

engine is on. I could be wrong.

Posssibly an intermittent grounding problem.....

Unfortunately I don't have a wiring diagram handy, but I would imagine that both of these switches are on the same circuit track. Try this just for the hell of it, since it seems to work for instrument clusters. Pull the fuse for the trunk release/gas flap release and reseat it.

If this doesn't allieviate the problem, then there is most likely a wiring issue in the harness that connects to the switch pack.

For the dealer to diagnose it correctly though, the problem does need to be happening while they have the car......I've gone through this sort of thing quite a few times while I was a service tech and it's no fun trying to chase down a problem that isn't happening at the time.

Happened to me several times in the winter after I had hand washed the car-I assumed it had frozen-after pushing it a few times, it later worked. And as with your experience it happened so seldom and never at the dealer

I just recently encountered this problem. If you lock the car with the key fob, both the fuel filler flap and the trunk release switches are deactivated. I thought that one time I also deactivated the switches by using the central locking switch. When I unlocked the car using the key fob the switches were reactivated and I could open the fuel filler flap and the trunk.
