ATTN: All those dyno'd or interested in dynoing... your dyno #'s are off
I've been reading over and over and over again that the runs were done in 3rd gear. now, I dont know how much dyno experience you guys have... but I'm assuming its not much... you never do a dyno run in 3rd gear unless 3rd gear is your 1:1 (or closest) gear ratio.
Dyno runs are to be done in a 1:1 gear ratio (ie 4th gear is your 1:1 on a 5speed, 3rd is 1:1 on an auto or 3 spd and *edit* apperantly 5th gear is your 1:1 on the 6 speed TT) The reason you run this way is because there is too much variation on gearing between different trannies. On average a 3rd gear is going to be at about 1.34:1, around there.
When runs are done in 3rd you get readings that are high by whatever gear ration 3rd is off from 1:1. I've been around dyno's for a long time... I've dyno'd my car , my dads car , friends cars... FWD to RWD... 6 speeds to 3 speeds, 5 speed auto's to 2 speed powerglides. I help a freind run the dyno down here, but i've pretty much been exposed to how they work for years and years and years.
And another.... 10% drivetrain loss is a little wishfull... Built race trannies (read supper efficient) dont even get 10% loss. You'd be lucky if its 15% for a fronttrack... most likely closer to 20% fwd and 25% awd

if thats the case on the TT 6 speed.... and 4th gear is 1.088:1... thats still your "1:1" ratio
Its as close as your gonna get. Regardless all dyno runs are to be made in 4th gear anyways... thats how dyno's are setup.
and 5th and 6th ARE both overdrives

given that .... you still are supposed to dyno in the closest to 1:1.... 4th gear will always be your 1:1 or closest ratio. 1.088 is pretty damned close.
Do you see how far off third gear has thrown the runs though? 1.429.... all the hp numbers are that much higher

Sorry guy...IMO is not fact...this dyno was specs is for 3rd and a dyno supplier was there...
lets just say from your experience your statement is correct from what you have done on a dyno of whatever make...in this case you are off target. And BTW the 6th gear of the 6 spd TT tranny is .912 and 5th is 1.097.
