Chip Friendly Dealers Part 2
Just went over to my dealer in Orlando in that my oil cap assembly does not work - oil cap is a spinner, and is being held down simply with the pressure of the engine cover. I wonder what idiot prepped this car. We discussed chips, DV's, etc. The foreman said that the dealer has absolutely no problem with chips. He said that if something far out (unlike standard failures - whatever that means) happens, it would be helpful to have a spare ECU in the vehicle which he would happily replace prior to commencing the trouble shooting. He went on to say, that for all "normal" type failures, it was not necessary to replace the chip, etc., when bringing it in for service. I also learned that with the 225's, if the DV fails (unlike the 180), the check engine light comes on, so one does not simply have to listen for odd sounds, etc. The guy even offerred to put in a K&N filter tomorrow when I bring it in, if I supply it. Seems to be a nice dealership. Also, they happily took me at the exact time I wanted tomorrow, and are having the part overnighted from JAX. So far so good, although it is a pain in the *** to bring a car with 500 miles in for repairs.
