with the poor shifting on the 5-spds an isolated issue that has been resolved on all 2001 models and newer? I saw a post several weeks back where someone had an official, audiworld/vwvortex owners' listing of all the folks with this shifting issue. Problem now solved, or no problem to begin with?

Default First hand. Future TTs (I think starting with 2002) will be 6sp ... yes even the 180 ...more

EU already has it this way.
I own a 180, thats as far as I would go given my economic state at the time of purchase (now is a different story). I don't think I would do the 180 again. Not because of the shifting, just because it is MORE POWER. Now, if you were to chip your 180 and add a good exhaust you would probably get a car that performs around that of a 225 (of course you can go higher, but these are basic mods). Between the chip + exhaust we are talking around 2000-3000 total. This is still less than going for the comparable 225 car.
Again, if it was up to me I would get a 225, chip it and add a better exhaust. But then again, you could wait for the rumored 260+ hp TT. I guess I just confused you more. Oh well. Have fun deciding, anyway you will definately get a GREAT CAR!

Default What's the story with this 260 hp TT? How come, considering the TT is the premiere audi sports car,

do they not offer the 2.7T engine as an option, if you were to chip that baby, an easy 300hp TT! Talk about a boxster killer, as well as everything else.

Default I doubt you could fit a V6. The 1.8 I4 barely fits. A 260-300 hp 2.0 I4 seems more likely.

My guess (which is worthless and based on rumors) is that in mid 2002 the 2003 models will come out, and you'll see 150hp, 225hp, and 260hp versions.

The 225 HP car has too much turbo lag for what I want it for. The 180 can beat it!

Default Well, im not an owner but I will be going with a 225 b.c I want something that will beat a porsche

I want to be kicking out over 280hp (without a turbo upgrade) and shave a couple hundred pounds off the cars weight.. Since your an S4 owner I believe you will want the same .. Even though you can get 225hp with a 180verson I would still opt for the 225 b.c you can then have 270hp+.. I think 285 is a better number.. with a chip+ exhaust+ downpipe+ intake I think you will have yourself a boxster S beater (straight line at least).. Supposedly the LLtek intake will add over 10hp at the wheels (dyno to prove) and i hear a downpipe will also add another 10hp so I think 285 is very doable with less then $3,000 worth of mods (if anyone disagrees please speak up)...A chip (costs $550), the exhaust (costs about $1100), the downpipe (im estimating ~ 700) and the intake ~$350.. With that combo I think you will have about 270hp and if that ain't enough the stage 3 will be out within the year which will be pumping out around 330hp (new GT-25 turbo+ manifold...etc)... Personally, I want something that will make a 911 owner wonder why the hell his $85,000 car isn't pulling on my TT.. (Im aiming for the deer lost in the headlight look)...

Well if they use the VW 24v VR6 they could fit a V6 in there... add a turbo you would be getting around 300-350 easy...

Default a GT-25 on the 1.8 will get you 300-350hp...

if you do a complete engine rebuild you can easily get into the mid 12second range on the 1.4 mile...
