Default Alignment is off because of stupid driver of other car...

The straightaway becomes the freeway after an intersection. Before I entered the freeway (I had the right of way with the green light) a '89 Toyota Camry of four punks right turned in front of me and I had to brake in the intersection (I was going about 50ish). Keep in mind the intersection is a bit bumpy. I felt the antilocks came on and as the car was absorbing the bumps while braking, I hear a loud "thunk" in the right front tire. After I cleared the intersection while honking and high beaming, the steering wheel was no longer steering straight. The car was going straight, but the wheel was now crooked. I think the entire steering rack is moved over a bit.
Before this, I was quite happy as I had the recall done and made sure the alignment was dead on. I was quite pissed and followed them and motioned them to pull over. They laughed and I followed them for a few miles. The made a right turn into traffic and lost me. Fortunately for them and probably fortunately for me that they lost me. Who knows if I would've been a victim of some cowardly shooting with a $40 .22 caliber pocket gun. My life is not worth being killed by a $40 gun and a bullet worth pennies. Unless they make contact with your car, don't pursue. Your life is worth more than the supposed vindication.

Are you saying that the car falls apart (alignment wise) just from an instance of hard braking? Scary!

Default Alignment probably gets thrown off easier on late model cars.

My bro has an 2k M-Roadster (estoril blue) an he hit a pothole and threw his alignment off also. I had a 98 Accord prior to my TT and and brushed a curb. Alignment was off and was never the same despite a couple alignments. My girlfriend has a 97 C280 and turned in to a driveway too soon and voila! alignment is off. (why don't they make driveways that are wider so you don't nick the curb everytime you turn into it) I notice the TT has to be turned wide on turns and driveways.

My oldest bro had an 87 Mustang GT with all the suspension goodies (despite the engine component problems (engine itself is bulletproof)) the car always stayed aligned even being driven hard often.

My '77 911 (yes 24 years old) being driven normally hasn't had too many alignment problems.

I bet automakers do this so that certain suspension parts sacrifice or misalign easier so that the rest of the car doesn't get damaged. An alignment is much cheaper than replacing a control arm or bushing. Who knows? Do I hear a automaker/alignment shop conspiracy.

I also have to take into account that the more cars sharing the roads, the worse condition they are in. Big Excursion-size 3 ton SUV's tearin' up the road...

Default I'm not a FE expert. But was always under the impression that alignments never change unless...

...you bend or break something. I have never had an alignment done on a car, unless a FE part broke, wore out, or got bent. Went 7 years on my 92 honda without a change in alignment. Only did one because someone whacked the car in the front end. Just had the ball joints done on the honda. Didn't do (didn't need) an alignment. Had the drive shafts rebuilt, no alignment was done.

Just had the first FE part break on my 72 Buick (never had an alignment, ever)-ball joint. Put it on the machine - was very close to spec-only needed minor adjustment.

Never had one done on our 92 Lexus.

If your alignment if off- I bet something broke.
