Default Thanks to those who responded...don't need to buy an asbestos suit...yet...

My comments were made solely on the number of posts that dealt with drinking...it looked like more of a frat party than an automotive gathering. Glad it really wasn't as bad as it looked with some of those posts.

No matter how I phrased my post, I knew someone might take it the wrong way. Gee, I should have asked about drug use, too. Let's not go there since I know (or feel) that most TTers here are downright sensible, artistic, free spirits.

As for the TT gathering for those west of the Mississippi, anything sounds good to me. Traveling half the distance of FW is, of course, appealing.

I agree that what will make it more challenging is the fact that California is transportation congested and, outside of there, other interesting venues may be far and few between. On that list (among others) that may appeal:

Arizona: Colorado Trail scenic byway, Joshua Forest scenic road;
Colorado: San Juan Skyway, Top of the Rockies scenic roadway.

Hey, I am open for it all!

Default Steve, I don't think anyone took it the wrong way, per se...

...it's just that this awesome event of over 100 people just was what it was. I think you just read a few posts and then tried to boil the whole thing down pidgeon hole it into something it wasn't. As far as I can tell, and based on my experience, a large TT gathering, just like any other gathering, imitates life. It's not like there was event-sponsored, compulsive drinking, etc. People who wanted to drink did that and those who didn't, well, didn't. It's really as simple as that and would likely be that way at virtually any large gathering where there aren't any expressed rules in place about NOT drinking.
